Redfish is a general name for several species of fish of the genus Sebastes – for example, Sebastes norvegicus. They are long-lived rock fish (living up to between 45 and 65 years old) found in big schools in deep water up to around 1000 metres. They bear live, free-swimming young. Redfish have been overfished significantly over time
